NEW YOUTH ART CLASS
The Meadville Council on the Arts presents a youth art class taught by Jennifer DeMarco-Shaw and partially funded through a grant given by ArtsErie and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Students will explore a variety of artistic and educational materials while participating in activities designed to increase social and emotional development as well as art making and problem solving skills. This integrated art education program will take place on Saturdays from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on the second floor of the Market House.
There will be five -six week sessions beginning on October 22, 2011. All sessions will focus on art and ecology and participants will begin by learning all about the rainforest. The second session will start on January 7, 2012, and will spotlight cities and urban living. March 3, 2012 will comence the third session and will focus on environmental conservation; the students will use recycled materials in their art. The fourth session begins on May 5, 2012 and will focus on farms and farm animals, while the final session will focus generally on nature and natural materials will be incorporated in the art.
Cost: $35.00 (members), $40 (non-members) per six week session, and there will be scholarships available.
